My Story

Hello! I’m Becca Fisher, a proud resident of Abiquiú (ab-ih-kyoo), New Mexico, and co-owner of Abiquiú Dome, a unique gallery space I run with my mom, Connie B. Burkhart, a talented oxy-acetylene metal artist. Abiquiú Dome is more than a gallery—it’s a gathering space for art lovers and an icon along Highway 84, a few miles north of Abiquiú. Here, we showcase my mother’s metalwork alongside my acrylic paintings and work from local and regional artists. During the weekends of May through October, we invite you to step inside, take in the art, and feel the warm spirit of Northern New Mexico. Learn about the history of the Dome [here].

I grew up with one foot in the desert, spending summers at Ghost Ranch, where my mom has taught workshops for over 30 years. Although I was born in Long Beach, CA, and lived in many special places such as Boulder, CO, and Asheville, NC, my heart always returned to Abiquiú. I worked for years in West Hollywood and Asheville in various start-ups across retail, entertainment, and hospitality. The pandemic prompted a move from Asheville to Abiquiú in 2022, where I set out to open Abiquiú Dome, a long-held dream.

In February of 2024, I joined the board of the Abiquiú Arts Council 501(c)(3) as the Communications and Social Media Coordinator. I’m committed to advancing the Arts Council’s mission, including organizing our beloved Abiquiú Studio Tour. Being part of this community has deepened my dedication to preserving and promoting the arts here, and I’m excited to help the Arts Council in a period of growth and renewal.

Over the last two years, I've immersed myself in the vibrant community of Abiquiú and Northern New Mexico. This experience has fueled my passion to contribute my skills and expertise to clients both locally and across the region.
